Weekly Movie Post
I will be starting a theme day post every Sunday night or Monday morning about movies and TV shows that Christian and I have watched or plan on watching during our weeks away from each other. This may seem a little odd, and that it does not quite connect to the topic I am discussing. But movies and TV shows are a big part of the way Christian and I stay in touch.
While Christian is in Grand Rapids, he and I try to have a "date night" once a week. We choose a movie, movie series, or TV show to watch at the same time and we usually video chat so we can discuss the movie as we watch it, like he and I would if we were together.
The platforms we use, for those who are wondering, are a mixture of Vudu, Netflix, personal hardy copy movie collections, and 123 Movies (which is not the best, but it gets the job done).
One of our most memorable movie "dates" lasted an entire weekend when Christian and I began watching the Saw movie series. The two of us were immediately sucked into the first movie, and practically blew off all homework assignments and previous engagements to watch all seven movies.
We finished them all in 3 nights. The 8th movie had not yet come out, and we impatiently waited about a month before we could finish that too.
Watching Saw changed the way we did date night. Even if we had homework or other things to do, Christian and I started making sure we blocked out some time to spend "together." We also agreed that, about once a month, we would spend a whole weekend watching movies or shows and would video chat as much as we could.
It became extremely important to he and I that we spend more time focusing on one another, especially since we both have busy schedules. I can guarantee this tradition will continue on for the next few years of being apart.
On a final note, I HIGHLY recommend the Saw series if you have not seen it, and if you are experiencing a long distance relationship of some sort, try watching something "with each other." I hope you all find this interesting and come back to read more!
